Business Development Manager

We are looking for a experienced business developer based in or around Amsterdam, who will take on the responsibility for selling our products into enterprise partnerships in the Dutch and Belgian market

As the Business Development Manager Netherlands and Belgium, you have knowledge of EdTech in the education market (PO/VO/MBO) and are able to define a sales strategy to grow our Dutch & Belgian presence. You will work closely with the Management Team and will be offered a market-based compensation package based on a combination of fixed salary and sales performance. Your OTE package will be between €60,000 – €75,000/year (75% fixed/25% variable).

Wizenoze is an European award-winning start-up in its scale-up phase with an Indian office in Delhi. India is our fastest growing region and therefore it is building an A-team to manage the growth. We develop software that enables students to find content online that matches their reading ability – raising their educational performance. We use the latest technology in natural language processing and machine learning to classify and adapt content in our search engines. 

The Team

We are an international team of educators, scientists, commercials, and developers in child-computer interaction and machine learning. We truly believe in only ‘hiring the best’. We love proactiveness, ownership, and flexibility. Our India Office is in Delhi – the strategic office is in London UK with our HQ in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The team members come from all over the world: , Sweden, India, the UK, the UAE and The Netherlands. We work as a distributed team with plenty of remote work support via tools like Asana, and Slack, etc. Our team is close-knit, making communication easy without an overload of process and management. We have lots of combined experience and do not settle for mediocre products. We only sell through significant partnerships that will enable us to scale quickly and deeply across schools, colleges, and libraries. We focus on agile development (both for product and sales development) via a rapid prototyping methodology.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Finding, connecting with, and selling to major educational publishers and digital platforms or LMS parties who in turn sell to schools/institutes (B2B). So you are not selling to the schools/institutes themselves.
  • Establishing working relationships with key B2B decision makers in the education industry at board/management level.
  • Accurate forecasting of future operation and preparing sales plans to adapt to ongoing shifts in the market.
  • Act as the Dutch representative of Wizenoze at key industry events, conferences, trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Optimize the business result by managing the right KPIs.
  • Writing customer proposals and contracts, as well as grant applications 
  • Take responsibility for each sale lifecycle – from lead to opportunity through to closure and ongoing customer account support

General Skills

  • Knowledge and passion for the role of EdTech in the Dutch education world.
  • Strong network among decision makers in Education, Edtech and Publishing Industry
  • Experience of B2B selling in the Education and publishing industry preferable
  • Experience with Multi-level account management and drafting sales contracts.
  • Excellent presentation skills to effectively influence future buying behavior – at external meetings, as well as at major trade shows and educational conferences
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and social skills. You will often be the “face” of the company, meeting customers and key stakeholders, so you must be able to communicate effectively and deal with conflicting opinions in a professional manner
  • Understand technology
  • Good writing skills. You will write external proposals and contracts in accordance with company policies. As well as, grant applications.
  • A relentless prioritizer who balances the needs of customers and stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial and self-driven.
  • Charismatic and persuasive, showing passion and self-belief in the products you are selling, persuasive and confident, with empathy and patience.
  • Univeristy level education
  • Experience in creating business, sales and marketing plans.
  • Measurable track record of significant sales deals.
  • Experience of writing customer proposals for significant deals and grants for significant amounts.
  • Flexible and adaptable to cope with a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English                               is required
